Looks like it’ll be a weekend for theatre with an Asian flair here in southwest Michigan!
Starting tonight, Children’s Music Workshop presents Mulan, Jr. at Lakeshore High School auditorium. Since my ten-year-old son Isaac was bitten by the theatre bug this year (he performed in his first production, Godspell, Jr. with Kids On Stage two weekends ago), I’m planning on taking him to see it tonight at 7 PM. There’s another performance Saturday at 7 PM and a Sunday matinee at 4 PM.
And tomorrow night, I’ll be taking my almost-12-year-old son, Jacob, to see Shaolin Warriors at the LMC Mendel Center. From the Mendel Center website: “the Shaolin Warriors bring the remarkable skill, stunning movement and spectacular imagery of Kung Fu to stages throughout the world. Performed by Buddhist monks of the Shaolin Temple, the production features many forms of Shaolin Kung Fu as well as a look at the daily temple life of the monks and their Zen Buddhist philosophy.” Sounds like a winner for my son, who’s suddenly taken an interest in Buddhism.
Looks like it’ll be warm-ish (high of 60) and partly sunny, if windy, all weekend–maybe our last chance to enjoy the outdoors before the leaves come down and the temperatures drop. Check out the calendar at Blue Star Highway to find out more about what’s happening in the area this weekend.
